I was looking for a cheap solid state amp for about $300. I would like it to have 2 or 3 footswitchable channels and me to be able to run my POD through it. I was looking at the Crate XT120R 120W Guitar Combo and the Fender 212R. They both have what Im looking for exept the Crate has 20 more watts than the Fender and the Fender has 2 imputs to the crate's 1. I have tried the Crate at Guitar Center and liked it a lot, but have not tried the Fender. Any comments on these amps or on any others in this price range would be appreciated.

Nov 03, 2003 04:22 pm How about the Line 6 Spider 112? I love line 6 amps. They sound so huge for their size. I guess it would kind of defeat the purpose of the POD hooked up to it, but it meets your price needs (I think), and you could still set it to clean and use the POD if you really wanted to. Anyways, I just can't rave enough about how great Line 6 amps are. You get the sound of a huge tube amp (actually, a bunch of huge tube amps) at the price and size of a little solid-state amp that would sound not even half as good or clean. I think it's a great deal!

Nov 03, 2003 10:12 pm I can totally vouch for the Line 6 amps... the guitarist in the band we were on tour with had a little Line 6 combo amp, and it was louder than my marshall half stack, and way smaller. It sounded better too.
