hey db... vegas question

i've been using vegas for quite some time but until recently i haven't had the need to sync it up to a digital device. can i set it to be slaved to an adat signal via lightpipe? i have a focusrite octopre feeding a digi 001 via optical cable and i'm getting clicks and pops when armed tracks are idle. this tells me that there's a problem syncing the software to the hardware but i can find how to do it... if at all possible.
