I keep hearing about DirectX plugins and VST, just wondering what they are, what the difference is and the such. Im guessing DirectX has something to do with the soundcard and the plugins i get usually are audio effects. But can anyone elaborate?

Aug 01, 2002 05:23 am DIrectX and VST are two standards used for multimedia applications to 'talk' to each other. DirectX is a Microsloth standard and VST is a standard that I believe was created by Steinberg. Effect plugins use these standard so that a thrid party company can make plugins that work in any multitracking application, because they all talk the same language, DirectX is the most common, but VST has become quite popular as well in the last couple years.
