pod dying?

my pod is acting weird. anyone else ever had this problem? suddenly the volume drops off. it hangs out down in this depressed state for several minutes, then comes back to normal. it's like someone is working the volume knob. last night it got even worse. on the way back up the volume started fluctuating, like it was trying to come of out of a deep hole, and was very weak.

Here's the best fix I can recommended; however it will cost you $89 : J-Station

J-Station and Vamp are decent alternatives if you don't use the MIDI control features of the POD. Those features put the POD head and shoulders over the competition...it gives you very deep and precise control over every aspect of the sound at a very granular level that the Vamp and J-Station just can't match...or at least not last I checked, and now with POD XT it give more simulators and a USB out to boot!

The J-Station does have a Midi-Controlled PC-based-GUI (called J-edit), which works great in my opinion. I gives you interactive control over the amp and cabinet models, gain, EQ, compression, gating, FX, etc. It's got some great drive & sizzle & there's an on-line user's group & patch library. I've never tried a pod so I can't make a fair comparison, but after a couple of weeks of experience with the 'J', I'm still very impressed.

Oh, ya I know it does have control via MIDI, but not as deep, with POD you can get at things that you can't even on the devices surface...it's kinda crazy...but super cool.

As I stated, I am not bashing J-Station of Vamp, they are both well-priced, decent performing products. The POD I personally feel is just better, not that the other two are bad, cuz they're not...and the POD has a greater cost because of that...so it's all what suits the user.

I have used both Pod Pro and a J-Station I like the Interface of the J-Station midi/usb control over the Pod...but I believe the Pod will win over J-Station in the end... only because Line6 is an established company with more R&D $$$....Just My Thoughts...2cents...no..sense

i havent tried that. i dont see how that could help, though. but if it comes down to that, i can save all my patches using sounddiver, then reload them after re-set. thanks for the idea, i hope i dont have to bother with it.

maybe a miracle will happen.

Also forty, are you linked to the POD via mid during playback? You need to check and make sure the POD isnt getting a a midi control command from your software that is telling it to do these wierd things. I know when I forget to turn off the reset all patches command in Sonar and I have 2 hours tweaking time on a patch for the POD. I get really *&%&*$ off when it clears my patch because I forgot.

So check and be sure you dont have commands going to it befoer you get to insane over it all.

On the subject of POD breaking after a year. I own one of the first issues, I belive it was one of the first 500 shipped. and I have never had one lick of trouble. So for the record, POD is the kats back side!

Let me know if that does it forty!

interesting theory. in fact, my pod is connected via midi cable, both in and out.

it happened again today. this time i pushed in the power cable, and it got louder. but the 'edit' light came on too. so i flipped back one, then returned to the patch, to get rid of the edit light, and the sound was quieter again. i have to keep experimenting until it begins to act consistently. it still doesn't make sense, whats going on.
