Adding a program to the program...

Here's the scoop folks,

I've got a mixer and such but only have a Audiophile 24/96 soundcard.

I need a program that will allow me to play wav files on my computer while I am listening to it and recording at the same time.

I've tried to do it with SoundForge but with no luck. Are there any simpler programs I could use?

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks!

Multiquence will do that, and it's free... you can download it at goldwave.com.

You can try the N-Track Demo version for free. It's pretty simple. www.ntrack.com

Also, take a look in our link's directory. www.dbmasters.net/hrc/links.php
Under Freeware, there are lot's of link's to place's that have software and such. Otherwise, if you are ready for a bigger pro level program, you can look at Sonar or one of the other multi-track software program's out there.

Um, not entirely sure here, but the problem may not be the software your using. Sometimes certain soundcards don't like to share they're drivers. You might want to look around and make sure there's not an option somewhere in one of your programs that allows other programs to use the drivers at the same time.
(ie. :in Sonar XL 2. In the Audio Options menu, under the advanced tab, theres a section called Playback and Recording. Under that header is a few options, one of which says "Share Drivers with Other Programs" Make sure that box is checked. )I don't know anything about the Audiophile personally, but I'm sure theres a configuration tool for it, the option might be in there.
Let me know if that works, or if it didn't. I'm sure we can get you fixed up somehow.

Oh yes, by the way. SoundForge is not a mutli track app. so that is why you can't record while playing back track's.

For high-end software you can get Vegas, Sonar, Nuendo, Cubase and some others...No Sound Forge won't do that, Sound Forge is for mastering and post-production, not multitracking.
