Decent EQ between my preamp and soundcard

hello-
I am looking for a reasonable rack EQ, not super cheap, but not Manley or Weiss. Ideally $500 or under

I have searched quite a few ways to answer this but have found no similar questions/answers

I'm thinking about running from my VTB-1 mic preamp, into the rack EQ, then maybe to my RNC compressor and then to soundcard. This will be an experiment for my guitar recording, mic'ing a Marshall with an
SM 57. If it turns out I don't need it , I can still have the EQ for other uses. I just want to explore all my options.

Graphic? 31 bands? 15 band ?. Parametric. ?

confusion

I've seen some $150-300 Peavey's, DBX's and Alesis'. Are those trash or treasure? I also looked into the Speck ASC and that thing is beautiful. Any experience with any of these?

any ideas or starting points would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

parametric for recording. jues recommended to me the Aphex 109, it's four bands mono, or you can split it up to make two channels with two bands each. retails for $300, i saw one go on eBay for $180 but i had no cash at the time :O(

anyways jues says go with tubes if you can

crap ! hijacked

I actually think I'm really going to get the Speck ASC EQ... but the question of with Transformer or without, is doggin me.

If I'm using this for mono in/out and unbalanced stuff, is this an issue ? The non-transformer version is cheaper !

any thoughts on this?
