If I want to record the drums as, say 8 seperate tracks. How would I do this would I need something like the M-Audio 1010 or is there ways to do it with the 44? For the Rough cut I would like to record the Drums as 8 Tracks, 2 Guitar tracks 1 Bass and 1 Vocal. What kind of system would I need to do this.

Sep 04, 2003 11:00 am You can only have many tracks as you have inputs available.

Sep 04, 2003 11:11 am It looks like you'll need some sort of outboard mixer to mix your 8 drum tracks, then you can send that signal into your sound card.
Or the 1010, with its 10 inputs, would do the job also (I think). But aren't the 1010's inputs an array of different types of inputs? Like a couple of XLR, a couple of 1/4", maybe an RCA or two? Or is that just its outputs?
It would probably be cheaper to find an affordable mixer than to get a Delta 1010.

A mixer will allow you to mix the tracks down, but you would still require a soundcard with at least 8 inputs in order to record "8 sperate tracks".
Sounds like you need a Delta 1010 J.

Sep 04, 2003 02:18 pm The delta 1010 has 8 1/4" inputs and outputs, plus midi, and digital I/O's. (I believe)

Sep 04, 2003 11:55 pm How would they do this in a "Professional Studio" environment with say 12 inputs at one time?
