hey a friend of my grandmother gave me a banjo that belonged to her father for years. she told me that she "had it stringed recently" in 1968. she knows he had it in 1913 but she's not sure how old it is. the company that made it no longer exists anywhere i can find. i was wondering though... should i keep everything intact the way it is or should i replace the head and strings incase some practical use is needed? either way i will put it on display in the studio.

bring it to an antique expert before you touch it. it could be worth trillions.

yeah that thing can be worth some serious money, so take it to a respected antique shop and have it looked at before you do anything. I made the mistake of modifying one of my guitars once only to later find out it was worth some money.
