Hi, im new here. someone and i had an argument about digital/analog(it was stupid but whatever). I asked him if hes got an analog or digital setup and he said digital and no one ever users analog anymore. I said that a ton of people still use analog, and are completely against it. I have a cool edit pro setup at home, but i also use a muiltitrack analog recorder. Can you guys tell me whether you prefer analog or digial and in depth why. thanks a lot

Jul 23, 2003 05:06 am that's the big question isn't it analog or digital , well it's personal preference no days, both can have great quality and both can suck . I personally use a combination of sorts , I do 99% of my recording on PC , but I use a grip of analog out board prossesors and other gear. That's just me I have software that can do the same stuff as my compressors , maximizers ex.. ( and i uses them too) but I like to have the buttons an knobs . I hate messing with tape , it's a hastle and most of the time I can get much , much better results from Sonar and wavelab. that's just my take.

This does get discussed all the time and it's really not that interesting of a debate.
Digital: Allows for edits, is pure, more flexibility, no signal degredation, faster to work with, no synch problems (well, when you have everything setup right that is)
Analouge: Tape Saturation, Innacurate - but then that's how we humans are, Old people hanging on the to the vain notion that all the tape gear they have can't possibly have been made redundant by comptuers.
jues. :D
