Guitar cab / speakers

Ok, I've been very dis-satisfied with the sound of my guitar cabinet lately... way too much high end and hardly any low. Right now it's loaded with 4 Celestion G12T-75's. Any sugestions on speakers I could throw in this thing to give me a more well rounded sound?

There are many things you could try.

The first, and cheapest is to try and tune you guitar cab with fiberglass insulation. If you add insulation you will increase the surface area of the inside of the cab... thus making the cab bigger with more low end...This works up to a certain point then it will actually degrade the sound of your cab...the best way to do it is add a little at a time evenly all around the cab, then screw the back on and listen!

The second option, and much more costly is to get different speakers... I would suggest Celestion greenback 25 watt speakers... they have a smoother high end sound and losts of lows... the lows however are sort of loose sounding...but very distinctive

The other option is vintage 30 Celestions they are similar to the greenbacks but have a tighter low end sound.(This option is rather costly)

BTW I have Marshall cabs loaded with all the above speakers(even the ones you mention) and prefer the greenback 25's

I am with shred on the Greenbacks as well. I used them in all my cabs over the years. I also tried the Peavey Black widows at one time and they had a very distinct low end, but also let the midrange grind through with ease.

The celestiion 30 is a very tight sounding speaker, good for the grinding types of distortion, but as he said, they are not cheap at all. The peaveys were not cheap either.
