Adobe audition 3 configuring problem

Here's the breakdown.
I have an MXL 2006 through a Tascam US-144MKll into PC
And for monitors I have USB powered Alesis M1 Active320

I do have an xonar DG soundcard, but I literally know nothing of how to use it.

I can't seem to figure out how to wire this all up ect. inputs and outputs with adobe audition 3. Very frustrating, I did have it working one time where I was monitoring recording and playing back everything but had huge latency issues. any help appreciated.

I'd certainly try the xonar DG Asio drivers first...in reference to your second picture.

I'd like to, I'm sure it is going to give me better quality and all. It's just the configuration setting s with the input and output along with the asio and latency that's throwing me around.

Well, I think it would help if you explain how you want the setup to work. Right now I'll assume you want to be able to record the mic while listening in headphones, and use the monitors for playback but not recording...

I would route everything through the Tascam. I would select it like you have it selected in the first picture. For the drivers, I would probably pick one of the first 2 ASIO drivers since we aren't really using the xonar soundcard. Then I would connect the monitors to the tascam via rca cables. I think this should allow you to have the following:

For Recording:
Mic >> Tascam >> Audition
Audition (just previously recorded files from the multitrack) >> Tascam >> Headphones

For Playback:
Audition >> Tascam >> Monitors

There are 2 issues here:
1) When recording, you will probably need a way to turn off the monitors.

2) When recording, I'm not sure if you can route what is currently being recorded into the headphones. But it might be possible, I'm just not familiar with that Tascam unit.

Sorry for the delay in response, The setup you explained is what I'm looking for.

The problem is mainly the latency. No matter what driver I'm using of the 3 ASIO choices. When I tried the Xonar, recording wasn't even an option.

I'm using the same program as before. Literally the only thing that has changed is the fact that I'm using this tascam interface now instead of my previous Shure X2usb.

Edit. I'm achieved 0 latency, but I have to use the windows audio sound as the driver. Still not completely sure how I can retrieve 0 with any of the other options for drivers.
