I'm just starting to play guitar and was wondering if it is worth the extra $30 to get the Yamaha F310 Acoustic guitar package or should I save the money and get the ibanez IJP1 acoustic guitar jam package?

If you're just getting started, you're not likely to ever even know the difference. Both manufacturers are well respected and make great products. Personally, I would lean towards the Yamaha, but I'm confident that you will be in good shape with either.

For a beginer the Ibanez does have just a bit softer touch which will prevent the ever present string buzz. As Blue said, either guitar will do just fine they are both well made and from respected guitar makers.

i never touched an Ibanez neck I didn't like. Although I can't immediatly recall ever playing an Ibanez acoustic, I do own a couple Yamaha acoustics from the 70's and they are rigid and tough to play. Learning to play on these difficult things forced me to play properly and I'm glad I did. I think starting on a silky-smooth guitar can lead to sloppy playing habits. That's why I never recommend a player start on an electric. In fact, I don't even recommend that a beginner start with a new instrument, instead they should have an experienced player help them look for a cheap used peice.

Good luck with your playing, and stop in an chat 6 strings with us ;O -j

I just bought back my old Ibanez ATL electric acoustic. It has the same bolt on neck as an RG and it is a shallow body thing. It gets the same sound like Dave Mathews gets. And it plays very well, I am glad I got it back that is for sure. I believe they were built for Steve Via and only issued one year. So I am glad I got it back, but that was the deal when I sold it, if he ever needed to sell it I got first dibs on it. Now I gotta just crank the truss rod up and straighten out the neck. Horrable buzz on the 4 and 5 fret on the high strings.
