I want buy a new laptop: HP - Asus or Sony, based on thebestlaptopbrands.com/
I need some suggestions for these 3 laptop brands. For Recording + Video + Photoshop, what's the BEST?
Thanks!

May 28, 2013 06:53 am Brand shouldn't really be a driving force in which one is bought, specs should be. People have certain brand loyalties, and that's fine, but really, of the major brands, they all have good and bad stories of quality and customer support.
My current laptop I just got from my employer for work (which includes audio, video and graphics work as well as development) is an HP, and it's great, quad core processor, 12GB Ram, 17.3" monitor...battery lasts for about 6 hours...and it didn't even make the list on the web site you mention.
I have never even heard of that site, I find it somewhat discrediting that a laptop brand that is listed as the best in it's screen size, isn't even mentioned among the best brands...I wouldn't personally put a lot of stock in that web site.

May 28, 2013 10:45 am I don't know what kind of video or photoshopping work you do, but if it's somewhat extensive or graphics heavy, I'd recommend getting a laptop with a dedicated GPU (preferably one that doesn't share off of system RAM, but has its own VRAM)
That's just my 2 cents to add.
But yeah, most laptop brands are decent. My personal preferences lean toward Lenovo and Asus. My wife's new Asus was cheap (under $700) and has some nice features, which I stated somewhere in another thread around here.
