Need Dirty Guitar Solo Help

Posted on

Administrator Since: Apr 03, 2002

I am finally trying to wrap up a song I have had in my head for years...but I need help with some subtle dirty guitar leads in the choruses and a solo in the spot that will appear obvious when you listen to it.

Currently it's me doing all the instruments (drums will be redone when the rest of the song is) and flametheband was kind enough to lay the vox down for me.

** link removed, song completed **

Thanks any and all who give it a shot, download the mp3, lay a guitar track over it and I just need the guitar track in mp3 format...we will discuss transfer option when I know who I am talking to, the connection speeds you have, etc...

Danzig? Now there is a comparison I have never heard before...but hey, give it a shot, see what you can come up with, the more the merrier :-)

If a couple folks get good solos created maybe I will re-arrange the song to accomodate a couple solos...or use one as an outro solo or something...

yes...not many people know, but glenn danzig always includes at least one orbison-esque ballad on each cd he releases. maybe download the song 'sistinas'...i can almost hear glenn's voice in the beginning of your song here.

well i fooled around for a little while tonight and laid down some ideas for junkie. probably not subtle enough for what you were looking for, db, and i'm not the world's best guitarist. but it was quite fun! i've kept the mistakes in for your listening enjoyment. i was aware of the existence of some 'better notes' at certain times, but i was quite hungry and it was late and then i couldnt find them. the mix isn't well-done, either, but whatever...i just wanted to post the raw ideas. it was fun to play with this...song's got a definite vibe!

heres my addition to this.. at 4am =P
ive been messing with variations of this all week. been a blast for sure. i am NOT a lead guitarist, nor am i trained in theory.. so this was quite the adventure for me.

ive got a lil flaw in my piece as well.. probably a couple. its all good though.

cool work fortymile btw. =)

forty, I gotta get that guitar track from ya, that thing rocks. collapse, yours is super frickin cool too. I think I have an idea to use them both at different times...collpases is more subtle, good for under the chorus parts, fortys is really "in your face" which would be cool during the solos. Together I think it will be perfect if I can gte the two sounds to flow smoothly from one to another.

forty, can you upload just the guitar track?

im glad you like it. it's not my style to play that way--i think i was trying to channel jerry cantrell. sorry its kinda sloppy. you can hear other mistakes when you listen to it by itself. i could fix them, but it would take a bit of practice. by the way, i liked collape's stuff too, and i liked flametheband's vocals. good stuff, all.

im having some trouble uploading to nowhereradio right now. seems like a site problem. so i'll try again tomorrow.

i have a question: whats that 'pad' sound, in the verses? very subtle, maybe some kind of flute...

The only other sound besides the guitar, bass and drums is a softsynth choir that I warped out a little bit using PowerFX's Dyad softsynth.

Let me know when you get it uploaded.

cool, dude, thanks muchly.

The next upgrade to the HRC Pro proogram is gonna be a file sharing feature to enable easier collaboration among HRC Pro members, I know you're not one, but maybe it's something that you or anyone else might find appealing. Last week we launched the plugin and softsynth preset sharing feature :-) Only 10 or so up rightnow, but hey, it's growing :-)

Thanks again dude, I have a couple more tunes ready for some leads as well...stay tuned if you're interested...

Sure, redo it if you feel you want to, I like the subtleness of yours, it lays under the vox very nicely. But it want be a mastered track until I redo the drums, so if you want to change something, now is the time :-)

yeah, collapse, i really like what you put underneath the chorus. it's anthemic, it really adds something.

db i feel like correcting my 2 little mistakes at the end of my guitar part, but i'm kinda pressed for time right now on some things. have you noticed it? its glaringly obvious to me. maybe i'll have time to fix it, we'll see.

Ya, I noticed some little stuff, if you want to correct it, go for it, I am putting time into some other songs now to give my ears a rest from this tune so I can mixdown a little more "fresh" and not have tune burnout. So when you have time, feel free to fix it. You know where to find me when it's ready :-)

Jerry Cantrell is one of the under-rated guitarist of the present era of music. Absolutely phenomenal.
