My computer is from 2007 and is nearly completely dead, it struggles with GearBox, struggles with REAPER, struggles with everything really.
Has anyone tried installing GearBox and REAPER on a tablet (iPad/Samsung or similar) if so what results did you get.
I don't seem to have much need for a computer aside from browsing the web and watching films. Anyone know if I could plug my external HDD a keyboard and mouse into a tablet? Or are they just not there yet? I have never researched buying a tablet so I have no idea what sort of level they are currently at - just wondering if anyone else has already thought of it.

If you are going to record with a tablet - I'd say get an iPad.
If you are going to seriously record, get a computer.
Tablets are a great area to watch in the next couple of years, but I would say that for now, tablets just aren't there yet. A WiFi hard drive and a bluetooth mouse and keyboard combo may establish basic support for the features that those items bring to the table, but I'd be surprised if a tablet would support saving your projects to anything other than the hd space that t comes with.
I had high hopes for using an audio interface device with my nexus 7 to create a cheap recording solution. I was disappointed. However my tablet will find new life as a control surface for my windows-based Reason studio.

Dec 19, 2012 04:29 pm I should say that I'd be surprised if tablet app developers allow saving to a WiFi hd. It's the lack of feature support from the app developers that prevents stuff like WiFi hd from being useful, mostly, not the tablet.

makes no mention of CD and DVD label design software.
I think this category would be a good addition to the list.
To make CD and DVD label i tried it and it appears to be the most promising.
