Any suggestions for bass amp/bass sound plugins?

I have a basic version of Amplitude that came with my DAW... it's got 4 bass amp choices, but I'm looking for more options.

Any help you could give would be appreciated :^)

I use a couple free one's, one called 3rd Bass and another called Helian, both do a decent job...the Green Machine II is a freeware download now that is a GREAT guitar amp modeler, but also has a couple bass options that work decent.

There are both of those, and others, at rekkerd.org/fretted-synth/

It's not an "amp" sim, its a pedal sim but its all I usually use. Just bass dry signal straight into the BOD. Gives it an awesome flavor.

Or this one, but its not free. There is a free demo I think but the sound cuts out every once in a while.

Hmm, gonna have to try that with my virtual guitars sometime. :)

Otherwise, there's also the Kontakt freebies which feature a freebie version of Guitar Rig. The free amplitube with your DAW is probably the same as the free version from IK Multimedia, but you can give it a look anyway see if there's anything different.

Also, check out the Acme Bar Gig stuff. It's mostly different heads, but I think they have a couple cab sims as well.

I like the Green Machine II, and use it a lot myself. The fretted synth stuff is nice, I like their FreeAmp plugs, and it sounds like they may possibly putting out a version 4 in the near future, after getting some feedback on the KVR forums.

Also, check out Camel Audio's free Camel Crusher. It's a nice multi-effect that works nicely with guitar/bass sounds. Includes a distortion/filter/compressor/master-gain.

I'm actually using that right now on the recent live recording I did to bring something extra to the guitar/bass tracks. I'm also using it just a smidge on the vocal track, and it's working nicely to round it out a bit.

I used 3rd Bass for quiet a while, ended up gravitating more toward Helian after some time, a few more options...either way, glad you found something that works for ya.
