Every time I export an audio mixdown to a wave file, I get about four minutes of added time at the begining of my file. What do I need to do. I'd like to burn the file to a CD, but I don't want the CD to have four minutes of silence before the event. Any thoughts?

Hmmm, is it really added time? As in all the audio is there, but moved over 4 minutes? Or is there maybe a few tracks of midi data tied to a VSTi that are maybe not being exported? Or maybe the tracks in the DAW are moved over a few bars, and need to be dragged back to the beginning of the track?

You could try opening the mixdown in another program like audacity, and just cut the 4 minutes out of the beginning if it is just moved over, but that doesn't address the original problem.

Could you give us a few details on the project, like, types of tracks you have, and how you have the project set up? While I am not one, there are a few of us that are Cubase users. Maybe they can shed some light on the situation.

Thanks for your answer to my inquiry. The content is a sermon from our Pastor Sunday. It was recorded on tape but we needed to make CDs. I set up a basic recording file on Cubase (start with empty, then add a track.), recorded the content from the line out of the cassette machine. No problem. I then edited out a few introductory comments at the beginning, a repeated line in the middle, and a few minutes at the end. I glued all the splits, set the locators, added a little reverb, and exported an audio mixdown .wav file. The recording is perfect except it takes 4 minutes before it starts. I know I pulled the edited project over to the beginning point. I just can't find a reason for the extra four. There was only one track, no MIDI. I'm just stummped.

I'm not sure what the issue is, but if you want a work around, you can take the .wav to a wav editor (Audacity is a free one), and cut off the 4 minutes of silence, save the file and it should be ready to go.

If this is something you will be doing often, it might not be the most fun solution, but it should help you get this CD out the door while you try and figure out the main issue.

Thanks for the suggestion that's probably what I'll do to get this CD out the door. However I'd still like some ideas about how to fix the Cubase issue. Almost everything I do on Cubase adds some time at the beginning when I do a mixdown.

Just a thought, but are you using markers on the track? Like, a beginning and end marker?

If you are try removing or resetting them. If you are not, try setting markers at the beginning and end point, and just mixdown what's between the markers. I know it's not a solution, and probably a pain what with being an extra step, but in the mean time, it might be a more robust workaround.

I'm still google searching the issue myself, but haven't come across this exact problem yet. I'll let you know if I do manage to dig something up though.

check your operation panel, where ya hit play and stop etc. Check the numbers there above the play and stop buttons make sure you havent set up a marker or anything. Failing that, reset the program to default. Unless you can think of a settings you have saved you cant do without then thats what i would do. But def sounds like marker of some sort somewhere.
