does anyone know of a soft synth that has orchestral and choral like sounds that are used alot in goth metal, like night wish and within temptation?

Best bet for orchestral sounds is to look at something like the EastWest sampled instruments, or some of the Kontakt packages. For choral stuff, well there are the Eastwest Symphonic Choirs which I think include a word builder.
else, you might be able to mix'n'match some of the freebie versions of the above. I think the Sampletank2 freebie has some choir sounds.
ProteusVXT should also be free, and includes some generic strings/choir sounds IIRC.
Alchemy Player includes some nice sound sets as well that could fit what you're trying to do. It's also a freebie "lite' version of Alchemy.
Those might be a start to look at, and I think they all have lite "player" versions that are free.

May 24, 2012 02:38 am I fully agree with j-bot, east west is awesome. Good samples make your song sound pro. Cheap stuff sounds cheap. I have had the choral pack for about a year and I haven't even touched the word builder, very complicated. Kontact has some tutorial vids that will give you an idea of how it works.
