Hey Everyone!

I just rescued a broken laptop from my sister and it's vastly superior to my current one... however... it has no firewire ports and no cardbus slot. I was wondering if anyone ever tried a firewire to usb adapter with a sound card? ...

A quick look on tomshardware.com gave me this post:

There is no such cable. They are both two different technologies that do not appreciate interaction at a power level. The normal result is a smokey affair.

The post after that said that there supposedly is such a converter, but....I doubt it would work very well. Point is, the voltages and signal paths would just be too different. I'm sure some places TRY to make converters or adapters, but they just don't work well.

J-bot is probably right about the reliability. In case you want to try anyways, here is a cheap place to get stuff like that.
