all of a sudden im having this stupid *** crud happening in cubase where i want to move drum hits but it seems to have the "snap function" stuck on, but the the snap fucntion light isnt on to indicate it.

the snap function is like a auto quantize type thing where the hit will snap to the correct position based on the grid etc.

Irrelevant to a point, its not "on" so it shouldnt happen, ive defaulted preferences in cubase but still its till happening.

any suggestions?
its a real pain in the ***.
i cant do anything without it snapping to wherever it wants to. which of course is always where i dont want it. Ive tried changing the grid zooming/points/timing, but it doesnt do anything.

this is only happening if i click into the midi mapping window to edit the hits, when i edit things just in the project window its all good ie, moving the waveform etc.

Yeah, the snapping and/or quantizing functions would be the first place I'd look too. I don't use cubase, but I'd keep looking in that vein for snapping or quantizing functions or settings or something that got turned on somehow. Gotta be a setting somewhere I'm thinking.

Else, I dunno, at this point I'd have to dig around in google for info, and possibly the steinberg forums.

Wish I could think of something else besides the stuff you've looked at already. :/

Is the snap to 0 crossings thing on?

Try changing stuff around in the quantize window as well. It could have taken the tempo map from an audio file, rather than 1/4 note etc. from the project.

well its got me funked.

Ive defaulted prefs, no snap function is on, automaticaly snap midi to grid is off, no buttons are on in regards to this.....so....i think i might smash it...not sure yet but may well be the only way to win this battle.

I came across an older thread on the cubase forum while searching around google. Slightly different problem, but might have some things to check for.

www.cubase.net/phpbb2/vie...e36595f2edcf68d

Could it be that maybe a specific section of the track has the midi snap turned on, and you need to remove it for that specific region?

Or maybe it is aligning to the left at a specific location? Like a punch-in/out location, and throwing everything past that out of sync?

Worst case, maybe need to delete the preferences folder, and rebuild it, or just re-install. :/

hey JB thanks mate, will get on that today. let you know how it goes.
cubase seems unstable tam too so might have to get rid of the prefs folder or caches

so i went into cubase cache and went apes*** in there with delete button. did it on the way out of cubase so i havent checked it yet but i did get some joy by changing the midi to drum map. got rid of the probo but still exists in the no drum map section.
