I just purchased a CAD USB Mic and I'm using Audition 3.0.
I realize that USB mics are not ideal, but since it was really my only option right now I found one that had great reviews.
I've been messing around with the setting in Audition all day long trying to figure this thing out. From what I understand, the USB mic acts like a sound card to the computer. That means your computer has to choose one sound card to use and that's where things get complicated. I installed a driver called ASIO4ALL after reading somewhere that this might be a solution to the problem. After installing, all of my cards came through the driver but I can't find the right configuration to both record and playback. Also, I currently can't hear anything through my speaker when trying to watch a video on youtube. Hubby isn't going to like that for very long. Lol.
When I go into the Control Panel inside of Audition's Audio Hardware Setup, these are the items in my device list:
Creative SB X-Fi
SB X-Fi Audio [9C00]
In: 2x 8-192kJz, 32Bits
Out: 8x 8-192kJz, 32Bits
Live!2K SpdifOut [9C00]
C-Media USB Audio Device
Out: 2x 44.1-48kJz, 16Bits
In: 1x 44.1-48kJz, 16Bits
I can check or uncheck these in any number of combinations, but I'm only able to record when I check:
Creative SB X-Fi
Out: 8x 8-192kHz, 32Bits
Live!2K SpdifOut [9C00]
C-Media USB Audio Device
In: 1x 44.1-48kHz, 16Bits
I can only hear playback of audio in Audition when I have this combination checked:
Creative SB X-Fi
SB X-Fi Audio [9C00]
Out: 2x 44.1-48kJz, 16Bits
In: 1x 44.1-48kJz, 16Bits
The mic seems to give a great sound when recording, but I can't keep switching back and forth in the setting on the ASIO4ALL device list in the control panel every time I want to hear the playback. Also, there's the no sound coming through speakers while on youtube issue.
If anyone has any insight, please share. I'm desperate.
