If that pic of the speaker is any indication, they're unpowered (passive) speakers, so they'll need a power amp.

UX2 -> Power Amp -> speakers. You'll need speaker wire to run from the amp to the speakers. I can't remember what gauge is decent. 14 AWG was a decent middle-road I think?

I'd recommend terminating the wire ends in banana plugs or something. helps keep them from fraying, and makes it easier to insert too.

As for power amps, well, some people are picky about their amps, but if it supplies good, clean power, it should be good. What's the wattage of the speakers? You'll want equal or greater wattage per channel on the amp than what the speakers are rated.

So if the speakers are 60 watts each, you'll probably want an amp that supplies at least 60 watts/channel, (or more likely 100W) Er, assuming the ohmage is the same.

My Tannoys are 70W at 8ohms if I remember, and my amp is 100W/channel at 8ohm, or 130W at 4ohm, and I've had no problems. (my power amp is an ART SLA-1)

A decent amp will probably run you at least $200 or so for the smaller wattages (i.e. 2 channels at 100W per channel) Crown and QSC amps are a bit more pricey, but I've heard good things about 'em. The samson servo line of amps tend to get okay reviews too. And I've had no problems with my ART SLA-1.

It might take some reading and research to find what amp is best for your speakers. And some of the other guys around here will probably have some suggestions. Some people mention the amp adding noise and coloring the signal, but I think if the amp provides good clean constant power, it should be a good amp.

I have a ux2 and I wanted to hook it up to a pair of monitors AND a sub. The monitors have an 1/8th inch input but the sub has the red/white rca inputs. So I have a 1/4inch-1/8th adapter going to a 1/8th inch splitter, going to a regular 1/8th inch audio cable to my monitors and a 1/8th inch-rca cable to my sub. Oh, all coming out of the headphone out on the ux2. The other outputs are balanced tsr or s/pdif. Then to adjust volume, just keep your "output" knob down and use the "phones".

So in your case, you probably just need the adapter(1/8-1/4) and the 1/8-rca audio cable. You can get those at radioshak im sure.

Hope that helps.

I use a KB37 (UX2 with a keyboard controller), and yes, you need a power amp between the two devices...preferably an amp with banana clips as well for easy wiring...though you can easily convert 1/4 inchers to banana clips.

The UX2 has no "power" for amplification...

As far as the sub thing goes...typically you run the signal into the sub, he sub contains a crossover that has connections that will take the higher part of the that singla and have outputs to go to the satellites...you can't (or shouldn't) run the full frequency of the sound to the sub and the satellites...it'll sound crappy...as both will be being asked to reproduce frequencies they are not meant to.

Good thing I havent bought these yet. I definitely need powered monitors. Any suggestions for good powered monitors at 200?

I've been told these were good monitors www.amazon.com/Samson-Med...949&sr=1-28

Yeah, they're powered/active, so you would just have to plug them in, and run cables from the UX2 straight into the monitors. I don't know how good a quality they are; 3" woofer seems a bit small. The older Resolv series did a pretty good job from what I read, and hearing from dB. But I don't know anything about the newer versions.

I'd do some reading and research, and if the majority of opinions seems favorable, then yeah, might be worth checking out. (Zzounds seems to show some pretty favorable opinions on them though)
