So, I went swimming weekend before last in this river, and water got all in my ears. Something went wrong and it blocked up the hearing in my left ear. I let it go for a week but went to the doctor today and they said I had lots of ear wax in both my ears. They flushed it out, and I'll be damned! My hearing is ridiculous now. I can hear EVERYTHING it seems like. And the high frequencies especially. Everything is super crispy. I can hear clothes rustling on itself like I never heard before. It's crazy and I've been tripping out all day. I'm halfway afraid to go try and mix something now...

Sep 06, 2011 09:12 pm How did they flush it out...
Sep 06, 2011 09:13 pm Every year or two I clean out my ears with a little hydrogen peroxide. Just pour a few (several) drops down inside one ear, keep head tilted and let it bubble until it stops. Tilt the other way and drain into a paper towel. Do both ears and what a difference!
Sep 07, 2011 12:16 am I do the same as Audiowritter. The only difference is that I'll use a mixture of Hydrogen Peroxide, warm water, and Olive Oil. The warm water will help loosen the wax, and the Olive Oil will help protect your ears from infection afterwards.
And yes, it's quite the difference!

Sep 07, 2011 01:11 am I think I had too much wax for hydrogen peroxide to work... I tried that before going to the doctor and was working that angle for over an hour before I decided it wasn't working (wash, rinse, repeat...).
They used one of these to flush my ear out... and my right ear had this huge chunk of wax like a rock....
Sep 11, 2011 08:08 am Sweet! I'm booking an appointment to do this now. Best investment I can make me thinks.
