Well I have both a new studio PC (Xeon Dual Core CPU) and the latest version of Sonar on the way here.
Does anyone have any experince Sonar X1 and the software instruments that are built into it? I've been using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 since it came out and I know the UI is totally different so I'll be doing some playing/learning for awhile.

Aug 16, 2011 03:39 pm I haven't used X1, but I have used every previous version of Sonar, and it'll be light years ahead of PA9...I refused to use cakewalk during their "Pro Audio" era, I hated it, Sonar improved things immensely!

Aug 16, 2011 04:07 pm Hehe, I used every version of Cakewalk from 3.0 onto PA9 and I refused Sonar for a long time because the interface changed so much that I didn't want to learn it but that's all out the window now. Time for NEW AND IMPROVED. :)
I'm really interested in the sounds as I'm still using a Roland JV-2080 with an Orchestral Expansion which has been GREAT for me but it's way old and the sounds are too.

Aug 18, 2011 10:17 pm If you bought the Producer version it will come with the full version of Dimension Pro which is considered an excellent, Rapture LE, Session Drummer 3, Studio Instruments, Z3ta+ and some other odd's and ends. There's plenty to work with. You'll have to check the Cakewalk site for the Studio and lesser versions.

Aug 24, 2011 08:11 am I just recently upgraded to Sonar X1 Producer from Sonar Home Studio 7 XL. As well as the VSTs that Dan covered, it also comes with True Pianos Amber, which has some pretty good grand piano sounds.
There are also some other VST, such as TTS; Roland Groove Synth, and a few basic synths - so plenty of sounds to choose from and get you started.
Of them all, Dim Pro is probably my favourite.
I'm liking X1, particularly the new interface, although there is the normal learning curve with any new software. Have to admit that I'm also a bit biased towards the broader Roland stable - I've been using their products since the 70's, and just find they work well for me.
My other qualifier is that I don't use loops, so can't comment on that functionality; I'm a keyboard player so everything goes in via MIDI; and only record audio occasionally - from my (Roland of course) digital piano.
regards
