Wow. Monitor feedback majorly on stage. Not sure why. The bend members insist on their indv amps behind them facing out and I got vocal mointors facing in. With a mic right in between. problem? My monitors are rated at 400w. I think after eq, i may be able to get 200w before feedback.

Aug 11, 2011 01:55 pm Do you ring out the frequencies that are feeding back first?

Aug 11, 2011 03:12 pm Ya, first step is to ring in the room. Each room will be different.
Aug 11, 2011 11:04 pm The way your describing the stage setup is normal. Every band will have their guitar amps, and such behind them, and their monitors in front facing them. So, yes. Fighting the stage volume is a big part of the job.
Now dB, and BeerHunter are talking about is pulling frequencies out by means of a 31 band EQ. This way, you can control the amount of energy that each frequency is outputing in the monitor. Which will make the monitor sound clearer, and stop the feedback.
If you are using the same board for the monitors, and FOH. Then your gain structure is going to be the the most important thing to keep in mind. Proper gain will allow you to achieve the volume needed on stage, and also the FOH. Without the need to pull a ton of frequencies out of the monitors. Plus trying to keep the band members under control with the volume of their amps on stage as well. The lower, the better.
