Hi all,

I'm participating in a film music composer competition and I'd love to share with you my efforts! :) There were two task - to illustrate (score? is that the word?) given animation the way you wanted (had no sound at all), and illustrate a part of the Get Low movie with Robert Duvall speaking. Why I write this? Because I think the tunes came out really good and I'm bloody proud of them! :D

For those of u who would like to see/hear the final effects and leave some impression - links below. Instruction: download, unrar, put some headphones on and PLAY!

1) movie (10 minutes)
db.tt/YlDf7T1 - 90 MB

2) animation (7 minutes)
db.tt/yc79pWt - 60 MB

I underline the fact that I've got no rights to the movie clips I've scored, just uploaded them for a few days to share some musical ideas I've used.

I'll check these out when I can get some time tonight or later this week. I'm sure it's great; I always enjoy your work. Out of curiosity, which film composer competition did you participate in? I'd like to participate in a few myself.

Great Quincy, I'll be waiting for your impression! :) The competition link is here - www.transatlantyk.org/en, but submissions were closed at 23:59 on Monday. I've sent my application at 23:55 :D

Zuma was excellent!!! The composition seemed to account for both the emotional progression and the visual cues of the video. It seems like you were able to do this with a lot of continuity, which is important to me when I'm watching a film. There were transitions that I felt were a bit awkward but not extremely so. The different sections felt pleasantly familiar after each transition, and most of the transitions were very strong. Great work, in my opinion.

Epitafium's scoring wasn't nearly as moving to me as your work on Zuma. It felt repetitive, and in such a long scene this really made it seem longer than it already was. I did watch the whole thing, but this score feels rushed in conception.

The quality of samples used are excellent! Can you tell me more about the sample libraries you use? The string sections were great and everything in Zuma was very mysterious and affecting.

Zupa: almost all tracks here are bit tweaked Omnisphere presets - gives u an idea ho wonderful instrument it is! Brass comes from EWQL Platinum and drums from Mutations Evolve 2.

Epitafium: u nailed it Quincy - I've done it almost on deadline, so it's not as polished as I'd like it to be, still not bad for a backing track I guess ;) Like above - mostly Omnisphere + LA Scoring Strings this time.

The funny thing is there's almost no mix and zero mastering because I know nothing about them, still the sound is good - that's how powerful vsti's can be driven by our imagination! :D

Aiii! Pricey synth! I'm looking at getting this one (www.camelaudio.com/Alchemy.php). It's pretty cool in that you can blend samples with oscillations or create sounds visually with pictures or strange looking charts. I don't know how useful/predictable the visual element would be. Maybe kind of a gimmick...but Camelphat is no joke! Amazing distortion, especially in the low end
