I have been coming here for recording support since 2007. And I'll be back very soon, this time for my own band!

If anyone is a fan of underground music, and/or has website building skills, my new band The Anxiety Effect is gearing up to record our first disc and we need some help getting out site built. I have Adobe Dreamweaver and know a little bit about it, but mostly know how to update sites with it, not create from the ground up. We're looking for anyone who can help us design a good band site for a reasonable price. The locals around here want 3 grand for a base package. Not helping an underground band on a budget much,,,,

We are currently online at www.theanxietyeffect.com I made the current page. Very basic. There is a youtube video of some pre-production on there if you wanna check out the guitar works, also posted below.

Thanks a lot, and like our facebook page if you wanna keep tabs on us! We're looking to promote the turds out of our music when its recorded in anyway we can online...

Get hosting at a PHP/MySQL supporting web host (say www.directadminhosting.com for example) and install a copy of Wordpress.

Yep, solid idea there. Wordpress is pretty easy to get set up. Drupal is another option, though a little more complex.

The webgeeks group I was working with started out using hostgator, then moved to slicehost as their hosting, but they decided to move over to linode for their hosting, (more memory, better prices) and so far that's where they've stayed, and they've brought in a few more clients since then as well.

Since it's for the band's website, you could probably get by using a shared hosting plan, and let the host admins manage everything. If you want a bit more control, and more options, you could consider something like VPS (virtual private share/slice) which is a little more expensive, but you get your own private slice out of a cloud/cluster which is separate from other users. Finally there is dedicated hosting, which can cost quite a bit.

You'll probably want your own unique domain name. I use Moniker.com as my registrar, and recommended it to my father in-law for his site as well. They have some good prices, and are very much hassle-free.

Anyway, there's some more food for thought for ya.

Edit: I need to learn to read. :P Nevermind on the domain name since you have one lol.

My current employer has us moving to slicehost for our environments.

Drupal is great, but yeah, if you are not a techie minded person, it may be a bit harder...Wordpress is a breeze to use...and I agree, shared hosting with todays common quotas, will be MORE than enough.

Well I have 300 gigs of webspace and my current company I am going with is Arvixe at www.arvixe.com They have a lot of options from there.

I have heard of this word press, but no idea what it is actually.

I have updated and maintained mu old band's website back in 2005 where I posted news, uploaded pics, ect and edited the HTML tags myself. I have just been out of the game for so long... I am not sure what a standard is these days.
