I have a humm or buzz in my wireless mic. It only happens when I run the line from the reciever to the board. I have a ground on the plug in so I know it's not that. I have a 22awg 1/4" (reciever) to male XLR (board) for the chord, could that be it? Thanks!

Mar 22, 2011 09:10 pm What type of wireless is it? ie Shure, Sennheiser, Nady.
Mar 23, 2011 11:14 am It is an old VHF DBX-Sampson mix with a Shure 58 handheld.
Mar 23, 2011 11:15 am My singer bought it brand new froma credited music store this way.
Mar 23, 2011 11:04 pm OK. this has an unbalanced output. How long of a cable do you have on the receiver? Is it over 15'?
Mar 24, 2011 09:54 am reciever to board, actually it is only 6'. 22awg.
Mar 24, 2011 08:22 pm Alright, it's not the hook up. One thing to try, to help narrow down what could be wrong here, is to turn off the mic, and see if it still buzzes.
If it still does not, then we eliminated the mic. If it does, then the mic is the issue.
If the mic is not the issue, then look on the back of the receiver. If there is a switch on the back marked "Mic/Line" try moving it, and see if the buzz changes.

Mar 25, 2011 01:18 pm Some of the older wireless units had a squelch knob. It could be that you need to adjust the squelch.
Mar 25, 2011 01:21 pm Can't help but picture the "suck" knob in that one Far Side comic...
