I just ordered a copy of gtp3 because it looks like my old recording pc will run it. I'v read good things, but I'v been using music creator pro 24, which isn't bad, but this seems like it will be more user friendly. It's like $35 at Amazon.

It's not bad at all... the same program I started with. It's got enough tracks to get things done, but no midi implimentation. I think it runs the same engine as Sonar 6.

Sweet..the pro 24 works..but, only directx effects..The web is crawling with free vst effects, and 1/2 a dozen free dx effects. Plus from what I'v read, gtp3 is a lot easier to use. And, its going to be the latest version that the ole pc will run...And I'm not changing pc's as long as I can record stuff on it...I'm cheap too. I also ordered a behringer fx2000. I think that will also brighten things up. What DAW do you use, Hue? and do you do any signal processing going into your Daw, or all virtual effects?

We're using Sonar 7.1PE, I believe. As far as signal processing goes, most of the guitar-applied fx are recorded directly, through the guitars amps/fx-boards. Lately our approach has been to record our 'live' rehearsal sessions, with each instrument getting its own track, directly out of the mixer. Then we chop up the recording into pieces that reflect the best of what we were trying to achieve, then go back and 'learn' what we've played... working out the bugs as we go. Our vocals usually get written, and applied after the live-tracks, and that's when we use the bulk of any plugins/post-processing.

Edit: you can get the results of our process, good or bad, from our Reverb Nation site... linky on my posts. : )

creator pro 24 is the 2004 version. the 1st one they made for a 24 bit card. 12 directx effect maximum...unlimited tracks, i beleive...and supports midi. My buddy has it also....if it wasn't for him I prolly wouldnt have bought mine, and definatley, wouldnt figure it out. There are some ligit software sites where you can still get it, i beleive...it won't cost much.

I just checked out your Reverbnation..Your songs are cool, and the quality of the recordings is top notch.....very cool indeed.

Thanks man... glad you like! I must admit, half of those works were mixed by my cowriter... a soon-to-be-changing approach, as we have moved our studio back into my digs. Hopefully that will add a bit of consistancy back into the process.

Reverbnation is a great site. There really is a lot of good music coming out through that place.
