What do you mean by spiking? Popping, snapping, crackles? Or the mem usage on the computer?

What are the specs on the pc?

Sounds like a resource issue. Could be almost anything.

I once knew a bloke who's computer was highly spec'd but consistently had pop's and clicks.

Turns out it was the graphics card. It simply couldn't render what was going on fast enough. it didn't 'look' like the culprit but it was replaced and everything was fine.

So, just because the CPU looks fine it doesn't mean there isn't a bottleneck somewhere.

how much ram do you have?

How many tracks are you running in your project?
How many send effect and/or insert effect do you have running?
Are you running any amp software?
or drum software?

check your buffers/latency settings within your audio driver AND cubase, sometimes you gotta crank 'em up for resource-hungry plugins running in real time.

use the freeze function on as much as you can too.
Be good if you could tell us the specs of the compy, ram etc.

so then it really depends on how many fx youre running etc in your project.

If none or not many then yeah something is wrong somewhere.

I had a similar issue when mixing with Sonar 8.5PE and Drumagog 5, I would get pops and clicks from the Toms and Kick tracks. I raised my Latency from 6.0 to 20.0 and fixed it right up. Now I pretty much as a rule of thumb Record at 6.0ms and Mix at 20.0ms. Those settings keep me pretty straight.

i think i will try freezing some tracks and see how it will go
same reason why i bought amd quad core processor trying to avoid all those pops and clicks on an early stage just recording alone

many a fine albums have been tracked/mixed with one core and 512 MB of RAM....if they can do it, so can you.

I agree with WYD...heck, many of us made recordings that sounded decent before dual cores existed and 256MB was the max mobo's could support!

to put it bluntly, no.

you're setup is more than adequate to handle recording....

something isn't right between your hardware (soundcard/driver) and software (DAW).

First of all, I want to say Hi to everyone here at hrc :). I'm new here. And to introduce myself, I'm Dani from Romania. Sylvio, please tell me if your soundcard is usb-based or you got a pci soundcard. If you got an external soundcard, get the latest drivers and work at 44.1khz/24 bit with at least 256 samples, maybe even 512. It seems that my M-audio Fast track pro needs 512 samples to work properly, at 256 I get a few crackles here and there and at 128 it's impossible to record/mix. And especially, if you have an usb soundcard, remove every other usb device you have, including external hdd's, webcams and so on. If you got a pci soundcard, check your irq for conflicts between different hardware parts, for example a gpu. Right-click My computer, go to Manage, Device Manager, then upper you have "view" and "resources by type", and then Interrupt Request(IRQ) and click that and check for your soundcard. See your irq number and check if there are any other components with that number, for example gpu, ethernet controller, tv tuner. Wish you the best!

wow! look at this guy, a brand new member that introduces himself by helping instead of asking...i've been here a good while and i gotta say i don't see that happen all too much around here. most start with a question and get hooked from there....

that said, i REALLY think Chronosferum is on the right path here.....are you using your computer's integrated soundcard by any chance? if so, that's prolly your problem.

as you aready did
lol
better late than never

yes i do have a usb based soundcard
one thing for sure i would try getting rid of all usb realated
hardware i will do anything to get a better respond

and no mr whosyourdaddy00
i dont use the computer intergrated soundcard

but all in all im still trying to get it to work one thing i notice is that i cant get more than 3 instrument track to work at the same time i get the pops and click like always.

actually im ready to get a new motherboard and mount up my hp wich was giving me better result
btw i did try freezing some tracks did work a little and songs that was recorded before i just will have to take off all effects and do them one at a time and record to a separate track untill it
sound the way i like
long way i must say but it work

thank yuou again i must say to everyone

so how many fx are you running then????
How do you have them running? as inserts or sends?

If yer using all "insert" fx and using lots of em then there's your problem right there.

Use "send" fx by setting up an fx channel and add the effect to it.
then use the send level fader on whatever track/s you want the effect to go on.

but this one can play with to many
not even 3 instrument track but
