Line 6 POD Pro Vs. Boss GT-6 (???)

I currently own the Line 6 POD Pro, but I’m not 100% happy with it. I use it mainly for direct
recording, so I need something with amp simulation as well as effects. I like most of the sounds,
but just haven’t figured out how to control the effects parameters to my liking. I understand you
can edit the programs deeper with a computer, but I’m just not into that. I want to be able to
control everything right from the unit itself. I love the fact that the POD Pro is rackmount, but I
will clutter my floor for a better unit. I’m hearing and seeing a lot about the Boss GT series.

Any ideas on the Line 6 POD Pro Vs. the Boss GT-6? Sounds? Ease of editing effects
parameters?

Thanks for any info!

Haven't tried the POD pro version (used the basic one), but we have the GT-6 in our studio and it seems a lot better than Line 6's unit.

Program edit is quite simple and you can edit many parameters accurately and pretty easily.

It's just that I don't play guitar myself so i'm really not the guy to debate about guitar FX units..

Thanks C.C.,

I'm going to buy the GT-6 on Monday - if I can get a decent price on it. The guys from the band Opeth use the GT line. If it's good enough for them, then it's good enough for me...

One thing I really don't like about the POD Pro is switching between the two banks of amp sims and the two banks of effects programs. You have to hold the "tap" button while your turning the amp or effect program knobs - it takes two hands. It's this whole process... Rather than permanently switching banks, then using one hand to switch amps or effects, while plucking the strings to sample the change. Might sound picky, but it's a pain.
