according to this Pro Tools 9 and up will now be open to all hardware that adapts its own software, with the first being MOTU... so we cant bash Avid for being so proprietary anymore?
Im kind of excited and kind of not, i mean i probably wont switch to PT coz of this, but its nice to know there is the option

Nov 25, 2010 12:00 pm I'm excited for this, mainly since I do the majority of my work in a studio that uses Pro Tools and use PT LE at home. Now what I do at home won't be limited by Digidesign's less than stellar pro-sumer interfaces. Of course, PT LE has always been a few steps behind with software features (and interface quality), hopefully now that Avid is taking over, re-branding, and redesigning their interfaces they will actually create interfaces that people WANT, rather than what we have to get in order to get Pro Tools on their rigs. Hopefully PT9 will see more features roll out that every Logic or Nuendo user expects as standard.
I just ordered a Mac Pro (dual xeon 2.66ghz Quad core) and will soon pair it up with PT 9 and I am considering an Apogee Duet or an RME interface. Anyone have any other ideas?
