The main out and the sub-bus outs are on the back of the mixer, all the ins are on the top...as well as the loops, don't know what else to say without a little more info.

look good, except you might send your subs to the soundcard instead of your aux sends.

Presley,

Please don't take this in any negitive fashion at all, but I am getting confused. Per your post on History of Recording and your profile you are a student of recording? Am I correct in my assumptions to this point? With all do respect to your chosen learning instutition, what does the course description consist of, and how is it sequenced? It seems odd that connecting a mixer has not been covered. Again, this is not a slight, truely just something I find quisical. And by the way, I am glad if we can help!

I'm with Jamie, send the main outs from the back to your amp/speakers and send the sub out on the back to your sound card.

The outs your are using for your sound card outs now are supposed to be used for effects loops.

Walt,

I am no student of recording or something:D i wish i was but what i don't understand is this:
"Per your post on History of Recording and your profile"

because I never posted in History of Recording and my Profile is quite empty

I assume you're mistaking me for someone else

so could you please clear things up for me :S :D
and By the way i'm glad too if you guys can help me:D

ow and db Masters,

if I connect my sub outs to the soundcard than all of the sound is recorded in stead of only the Microphone or the synthesizer

so thats why I used the aux send

if you guys dont get me it's because im like a total n00b to recording and I've only got the mixer and the mic for a week now

but this site has helped me SOOO much allready that's why I just keep asking :D

Thx

Well, I am glad this site has helped you, that is what we try to do :-)

OK, use the sub outs, that is actually what they are there for. See the little button down by your faders? One is marked "sub" one is marked "main" and one is marked "solo" those are the output assignments.

The one channel you want to route back to the sound card for recording is the only one that should have the "sub" button depressed. All of the channels you want to hear out the mains should have the "main" button depressed. The solo button will mute all channels except the one that has that button deperessed.

Does that make sense?

Read the article "Anatomy of a Mixer" somewhere in the recording tips for more info that may help you understand signal routing.

Ah, funny guy, funny guy...actually, now that I think about, I remember making my first recording of sound (not necessarily music) with my dads old mono cassette tape player when I was in about 5th or 6th grade, whoich would have made me...ummmm, 10 or 11, so that was 25 or so years ago, I recorded my first demo in the "home studio" type of setup (if you can call it that) at 15...today is my 36th birthday...hey, what the hell am I hanging out on these forums for...I am gonna go have a beer!

Anyway, whatever the generation gap is, I am glad we could help you out. Istarted this site to help people like you that are new to the game, and to learn something myself...which I have...a lot more than I ever bargained for.
