New Album - Dreaming Out Of Control... free download

So, I just put up my new album for download at my website. It is free if you'd like to give it a listen. It is sample based hip hop music. I'm doing the majority of rapping, and a friend of mine did the beats. I mixed vocals, he mostly mixed the instrumentals. I did the mastering which was a rush job (as I was in the process of getting ready to move), so it's not perfect, but I think it still sounds pretty good. Any honest feedback is appreciated, but will be taken into account for next album, as this one is DONE!
Also, the "Frisco Kids" song that I posted here a couple months ago is on this album, so now is your chance to grab it, if you liked it.

If you go to my website:
www.bossmonk.com
you will see it is at the top of the page. Just click the cover art to start the download. It's about 87Mb or so...

Thanks in advance for listening.

edit: There's also a beat called "Coco's Asylum" right below the album that I made recently with a guitar riff our old friend cocofromscotland sent me years ago. Ha.

I'm going to download tonight coolo, and will post some comments after I've had a chance to go thru the album. I'm sure there will be some great tunes, you always manage to have some catchy hooks in there some place that even an old classic rocker like me can get into!. :)

At work atm but I will be grabbing this when I get home asap. I am very excited to hear it. I am not normally your hip hop guy but when something is good it don't matter. I have a feeling I won't be let down, and if I am you will hear about it ;)

Cool got it. I would like to take this time while listening to my free music to complain about download speeds, it took forever ;)

Will be back with impressions.

1st impression - Out of control is smooth, love the piano and the chorus is great. Top notch production mang.

Well thanks for making this available to download, it's great! Are you going to sell the Wav's or hard copies of the music? Very pro level output to these ears.

I've got my first rap/rock project coming up next month and I know who's phone I'm going to blow up...

I have a nightly ritual of sitting in front of the computer with music cranked. So tonight it's hip-hop!

Sounds great on my system. the vocals really pop in the mix. I love owning a subwoofer :)

edit:
Holy **** dude this is really good.

edit again:
Seriously, this is an achievement for you and for this website.

Hey, thanks for listening guys!

@Cpn... it might dl quicker if you weren't mooching wifi off your neighbor... (I kid, I kid). But yeah, all the beats were done by my friend El Rasoul. I'm just the rapper.

@Quincy... yeah, if you need anything, let me know (an extra ear, whatever). As for selling it, I'll probably get it to my digital distributor so it will make the rounds to itunes, amazon, etc. But I'm not really trying to sell it. Just hoping people will listen to it. I pressed up a very limited copy of CDs that I'm handing out to friends/family. Otherwise it will be available to dl for free on the website.

@ Tad... wow, those comments really made my day. I'm glad you like it. Speaking of this website, I think back on the sound quality of my music before I found HRC, and how many ideas it gave me to improve the sound. That info plus a lot of experimentation and trial and error really helped me progress. There's no doubt in my mind that the leaps and bounds I've made in sound quality over the years is directly due to knowledge picked up on this website. If you really want to see what HRC can do... show bace135 before and after HRC. It's crazy.

I'm about the last fan you'd expect to recruit for a rap or hip-hop album. But damn you've done a great job here. I hear soul, r&b, a little blues and rock weaved in there. The production is way beyond anything that my critiques could improve upon. But I know great songwriting when I hear it. The variety and layering of components, the lyrics and the performance are just top notch.

Yeah I love to see the success stories of this site. There are several of you guys that are taking our little hobby and making it capable of rivaling anything backed by a label.

The only thing I have to suggest is the ID3 tags. Open your album in Windows Media Player and you'll see the song titles are all underscored with the album name and track #. You can edit that stuff right in WMP (album, artist, track# etc. are all individual fields, no need to include them in the track name) or any other tag editor. The 1st song shows up as a separate album which means it has at least 1 ID3 field different from the others. I couldn't identify the offending field at a glance though.

Thanks for the heads up on the tags Tad, I'm not that experienced with those things but I think I got it figured out. I'm going to reupload now... it should look better.

And thanks again for the kind words!

Ok, I'm back. This is really good all around. My buddies who listen to rap like it, my wife likes it and even though I'm not too hip-hoppy there are a couple of songs that I could listen to often and enjoy. Does that make me a convert?

Once again, great job Coolo and El Rasoul. Bace135 in yo face!!

Cool cpt. Thanks for sharing letting your folks listen too. I'll get you all converted to this hip hop stuff sooner or later. I won't hold my breath though. I'm just glad anyone takes the time to listen. Thanks again.

That title track is just great. And Can't Quit Her right after that, terrific sequence. Are you singing the background parts too?

On dreming out of control, all the vocals are mine, including the singing. On can't quit her, the hook is a cure sample, but I sung over the part twice, an octave apart to thicken up the sound. I think it is more noticeable in headphones. And the "I can't I can't I can't, nooooooo!" is me also.
