Imac VS Mac Pro w/ Symphony I/O

Hi there, I'll soon be investing in an Apogee Symphony IO and a new computer. Obviously, the Mac Pro would be better for using the Symphony pcie card, but the Symphony IO could go to Imac via USB. What would be the over all audio quality loss? Would it be significantly worse than the Mac Pro rig? or should I maybe just get an ensemble and an Imac and add extra drives later when needed? I want as reliable a platform as possible. I'll have a few outboard pre's as well, a PreSonus ADL 600 and an API R20. Since i'll be investing 3k in preamps i want the best AD and interface quality, which is what leans me towards Mac Pro / Symphony IO / PCIe option. Every opinion is very much appreciated, thanks!

I don't have any answers for you, but if you don't mind me asking, what DAW are you using this with, Logic?

Avid just released Pro Tools HD native yesterday, you could use your Symphony IO with it if you want to. Just thought I'd let you know since it's pretty fresh information.
