Split Keys?

Hey, is there any way to split a keyboard and send it to two different programs in my DAW, and trigger different sounds in different ranges?

I would use a circular saw myself but a simple handsaw should do it.

My XBoard allows the creation of regions, although I don't know anything deeper than that about it :) I can't remember if this allows me to send on multiple channels from multiple regions or what. Hmmm, I need to read up!

After a little bit of reading, I do see that I can designate a zone of the keyboard and amongst the settings for each zone is a MIDI channel. So if your MIDI controller has the same feature, you could send one region of the keyboard to one MIDI channel with a VSTi listening for it, and another region to another MIDI channel with a different VSTi listening.

Mine doesn't have that :\ And i doubt the one i'm "upgrading" to does either. (Midi controller, rather than a keyboard with an analog output. Semi weighted keys, 88 key range, Should be able to sell mine and grab that without losing much money!)

Thanks tad though. I thought i'd need some sort of external program to do this, but a little digging into the cubase manual shed some light here....RTFM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now hang on there fancypants, this YPG doohickey looks a lot like my DGX 505 but maybe even fancier AND pantsier. The manual says you even have WEIGHTED keys, how super-fantastic for you! I have been tickling these ivories for 5 years without even the faintest counterbalance, but I can change my midi signals around just fine.

On my keyboard, I have to hit function and then scroll through a bunch of stuff until I find the key split and the midi sends.
