ISDN

What do I do after the phone company installs an ISDN line? I need to be able to record my voice from my mic to a studio in another city while taking direction over the phone. Do I need any extra gear on my end? Or do I just run the ISDN line into my PCI card? I currently have a cable modem hooked up to my computer. Not sure how to make the hookup happen. Thanks.

What you're going to need to do is record your vocal onto your computer and then send the file to the other studio via FTP, Email or some other file transfer method. ISDN is an older high-speed internet technology and frankly, it's not as fast as cable. I'm not sure why you would have an ISDN line installed when you already had cable internet, but I'm sure you have your reasons. Getting back to your project... You'll need to have all the necessary hardware and software to record at home. You'll also need at least a stereo mix of the song you'll be tracking vocals for. Import the stereo mix and add your vocals on a new track. Then send just the vocal track to the studio for them to add into their session. I'm leaving out all of the nitty-gritty details here, but this is basically the process. Let us know if you need more detail.
