Here's the setup: DI-400 to mixer, mixer to Tascam Portastudio. I want to use my V-Verb Pro and Ultragain Pro. How do is send my effects to the mixer to be controlled by the bus on the mixer? Do I need to route it to the Portastudio insed? If that's the case what goes into the return and what goes into the send? The mixer is a Beheringer Xnyex 1204. I'm totally lost. Help. I'm new to this. I do have a patchbay if that would make it any easier to help me. But again, totally a noob.

Aug 12, 2010 01:46 pm Let's start at the basics here --
1) Do you need a DI or a preamp at the head of the chain?
2) Why are we even talking about the mixer at this point?
3) Which Portastudio...? Does it have sends and returns?
Aug 12, 2010 03:21 pm I need the mixer because the Portastudio (DP-02CF) only has two inputs. I realize I can switch back and forth when it is necessary. The DI would be at the head while tracking guitar and bass. But when it comes times to track drums I need more channels, thus the mixer. The Portastudio does have 1 send and 2 returns. I really appreciate the help. I'm still a year away before I can afford engineering school. Oh also, the Portastudio does have a preamp, as I plan on using an MXL 900 for vocals and maybe acoustic.
