I posted a song in my profile called Just Poppa. If you have a second let me know what could be fixed. I did some interesting production with the beginning but not sure if it's out of place.

if you email this to me, I'll listen on my music computer... internet computer only has left speaker, and I'm pretty sure I'm missing some important stuff...

Hah thanks! I posted this at 4am and it sounded great on my monitors...then I went upstairs and listened on my laptop speakers before I went to bed and thought, "OH MY GOD I have never made anything that sounded so terribly, awfully, bad. I will never post anything at 4 am ever again." Then I grabbed a pair of headphones and it was sounding good again.

There's a few reasons I think that are behind this sounding crap on laptop/cheap speakers.

I spent a LONG time getting this bass line to sound good, fat, and LOW. Perhaps too low to translate on tiny speakers. There's one super low tone, and several higher, more textured bass tones with fuzz, pumping and fading with a compressor. There's some really low percussive bells too that don't seem to come through on lofi speakers. The parts that come through the most are the strange drum samples and stuff. Which is essential and sounds really interesting in the mix...but by itself sounds like the composition was completely random (I swear, it's not!)

The band loves it...but I'm self conscious about it. I spent about 4 hours on 11 seconds of audio, so I'm much too close to this little snippet to objectively judge it. Much of my inspiration for this piece comes from Venetian Snares, if you're familiar. The band wanted something really avant garde and I believe I delivered in that capacity, hah.

Email is on its way...

So, I gave this a good listen on my good computer speakers, my monitors, and my headphones. On the intro, it sounds that the bass is loud compared to all the other sounds except the "ooooooooh" sound that reminds me of wind going through the trees which also seemed loud to me. Everything seems to have it's own place real nice, just those parts are loud comparitively. And you're probably right, the laptop speakers probably won't handle those bass tones very well.

The rest of the mix sounds effing ridiculously good. I'm super impressed. The only thing I noticed and I'm not sure if it's even possible to change is... I guess it's a brush on a ride cymal (maybe?), but the clickety clack is very audible but the resonance of the cymbal is hard to hear. But then, maybe that's how you wanted it. Either way, that is a really small issue compared to how dope the mix sounds overall.

Hope that helps.

Cool, I wondered if that whistle thing was too loud. I'm surprised that the bass at the beginning is a little hot, but I don't have a subwoofer. I'll solo that tone and the other bass tone throughout the rest of the mix and match them up. Thanks for the help.
