Cubase plugins not good enough?

Hi, I've been using the plugins that come with Cubase but have been reading that a lot of people use other plugins. Are the ones in Cubase not good enough? What else do people use? I mainly see talk about Waves but there must be others.

hmm, i use Cubase, im not really liking alot of them. The vst dynamics is good though, the mono delay seems to be alright though i havent really tried much else.

all in all they are ok, there's alot worse out there, but i guess it depends on your level of skill really, i guess the better your skill the less usefull they become. they are pretty basic.

they would be in line with the majority of interfaces out there.
by that i mean, you can have the best FX in the world but if you have an average interface or pre amp then there's no point worrying about kick *** fx too much. best off saving the coin and learning how to use the ones you have.

ppl use other plugs not becoz their better or worse (not only) but becoz plugs, just like their analog counterparts, differ from brand to brand, so it all comes down to wat sound ur looking for. On the whole ive found Cubase plugs to be clean and to the point. Their delay is very true and digital and is good for that use, their EQs r lacking but like Deon said their VST dynamics get the job done. I actually use the the Gate on their dynamics plug alot, its very simple and doesnt take alot of CPU power.

its really not about if their bad per se, they just might not do wat some ppl r looking for, so ultimately tahts y ppl would have an array of plugs from different companies.

I haven't used Cubase in years, but as I recall, the VST Dynamics plug that came with it was pretty dang good.

Waves I think has a couple of great plugs...their Parametric EQ's and Ultramaximizers are great...otherwise I've used mostly Cakewalk bundled plugs for other tasks with my Sonar install.

Thanks for the replies. I started looking into Waves and saw they have a basic package that looks good for what I want which is just a general "upgrade" in the quality of my main effects like eq, compressor, reverb, delay, etc.

This is what I'm looking at - waves.com/content.aspx?id=9064. It comes with their guitar program too which I like. Do you think this would be a good improvement over Cubase plugins?

Cubase plug ins kill. They're just really clean, no character, which is great! Just like a plug in should be. None off that emulation stuff. I use VST dynamics, mono delay, and all the modulations plug ins religiously. Gotta know how to use em ;-).
