Hey, so I bought this behringer reverb pedal, and it's great, I love it. Yesterday I was in Oslo and they sold these random stuff like very cheap and I found a 9v AC adapter but it said 2000mA instead of the boss' 200mA but it shouldn't really matter since the pedal will draw whatever it needs and nothing more anyway, I even asked specificially for this and got the answer that it doesn't matter. So getting home, I had visit from one of my friends and he said, so can I try your reverb pedal? I said, of course and he took it out of my daisy chain and plugged into the new adapter and were gonna try it on his amp but nothing happened. Then trying it again on my setup it suddenly didn't work anymore. And it did work 10 seconds ago, and is only 6 months old or so... This is very weird and I can't figure out why, any thougts?

May 31, 2010 04:41 pm As said the adapter was AC and not DC but should that matter? It shouldn't destroy the pedal?
May 31, 2010 06:49 pm Well.......... I think that you found your problem.
Sorry, but yes. It makes a huge difference. Pedals do not have a rectifier in them. Meaning no way of converting the AC power to DC. All of this is done at the power supply.
By plugging in AC all of the op amps inside blew.
Yeah........ It's a goner.

Open the pedal. There maybe a capacitor in there that may have saved your pedal. Look to where the power supply plugs in at. If there is a capacitor there, you may have to only replace it! :)
Fingers crossed!

Jun 01, 2010 08:46 am ah ok, I know some pedals can handle AC power as well as DC power, included the bad monkey pedal. And I tried AC on my boss pedals and they didn't work but they didn't get destroyed either, so that's weird. So how does a capacitor look like? is it the black thing that looks like a battery attached to the circuit board? Cause there's no way you can take out the pedal board of a behringer cause it's like glued on or something.
