Sonar input monitoring problem

I've just started trying to setup my PC for recording. Up to this point I've been recording to a Boss BR-8, but am trying to move to the PC. Right now I am using the stock Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card. I plan on upgrading at some point (probably one of the M-Audio cards), but am trying to work out all the kinks before I invest any more money into the PC setup. The current signal path I dealing with is:

electric guitar -> Audio Buddy preamp -> Presonus BlueMax Compressor -> Sound card.
I'm using Sonar 2.2, and often a ReValver plugin. My problem occurs when attempting to monitor my input signal. With Input monitoring "on" in Sonar, I seem to be facing a serious latency problem, where I hear the signal almost a full second after playing it. I'm experiencing none of the echoing or feedback issues discussed in the manual. Could this be a setup or Sonar problem, or is it probably my sound card unable to keep up? I have no significant latency issues with input monitoring turned "off", but then of course can't monitor. Any advice or suggestions anybody could offer would be a big help. sorry for the length of my post, but wanted to give as much info as I could. Probably forgot something important, though. Thanks.

Yes the Turtle Beach card is probably causing the latency. One suggestionwould be to go to their website and try to down load the most recent drivers for the card, and hope that they have WDM drivers as this would be the best for lower latency. YOu can go into the options-audio menu and try to set the latency lower by moving the slider to the left and wee if the card can handle it without distortion, but it might not. I use the Delta 44 which can use the ASIO drivers in version 2.2 which is what I am running. This is going to be the best solution to the latency problem to be honest. But for now you can try and download the latest drivers from TurtleBeach and see if that helps a bit.

Thanks. I figured that would probably be the answer, just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something stupid. I had updated to the latest WDM drivers, and that didn't help. Yeah, now I have an excuse to buy something else. Thanks for the help.
