Cubase SX3 NIDI Recording plays EARLY?

I've done a lot of searching for this problem and I haven't really come across this exact issue so far, so thought I'd give it a try. I've always used cubase SX3 on an XP PC and a Tascam US 122l to input guitar, drum machine, etc. Recently I've gotten some MIDI stuff because I got VIR2/Kontakt. So I've tried using a Roland JX-8P to record midi files, and also an AXON AX100 guitar midi controller-which I prefer using. The problem is that any midi files I record end up being 'placed' earlier than when I start playing them. Essentially, if I start playing something at bar 6, it appears earlier than bar 6 as well as being all jumbled together. I've set a punch in time for, say: 45 seconds into the song but when it's time to punch in, the midi file starts about a second before that time. I've got decent latency time for audio and I have the updated drivers for the tascam interface but still-the midi stuff shows up in cubase, and plays EARLIER than when it's supposed to. Thanks in advance for any tips or answers.

check out midi offset in help.
you can offset anything if you want. sounds like you have it set to an offset time, maybe its like that as default. but it should be in help.
