ASIO4ALL+Adobe Audition+Win7 working without live mic monitoring

Hello HRC world,

I have asio4all setup with Adobe Audition 3 and Win 7.(Creative Sound Audigy card). I managed to power my way through the initial dreaded synth hassles and other issues.

All inputs and outputs are working. As in I can see a mic input being taken in during recording and I can also hear a track if played through audition.

Here's my question: the channel that is used to play the track from Adobe Audition (in my case SB Audigy 5) does not provide a live feedback from what is input into the mic (Mic input channel is SB Audigy 1).

a)I'm a little confused with how to identify which channel would get which output/input, as in channel 5 = speaker port of pc(i.sound card), channel 1 = mic input(pink port). I found these two channels through trial and error. Is there a more logical/technical way to find this out?

b)I can monitor the mic input level and i can see that data is going in, but i don't hear any feedback. My intention for ASIO4all in the first place was to reduce latency of feedback from the mic. Granted if it is a vocal input, it's going to be heard directly. But if i use an electric guitar or some other electronic device that has an output port fed into my sound card, i can not hear the output of the same from the device. I want to be able to hear this from my PC speakers. I tried assigning input as SB Audigy 1 and the output as SB Audigy 5, so i thought the input from the mic and output from what is received through Adobe audition. This doesn't however provide mic feedback. Only the tracks that simultaneously go on in Audition's multi track view.

Can you help me out with the settings i should watch out for, so that I can "also" hear the feedback from the input (mic or line in etc) along with other tracks?

Cheers.
K

Hello K, welcome to the HRC.

While not real up on either SB or AA, I will say that input monitoring is something you're looking for, so you can hear the incoming signal through your monitors (or headphones, or whatever speaker).

I'm not sure where that setting would be in AA, but there's some AA gurus on here that will hopefully be along shortly to help out.
