I recently purchased a Providence SOV-2 overdrive pedal. I accidently plugged it in to a 12v dc adapter, and now it wont take power from a 9v dc adapter. It still works, with a 9v battery, but thats just not practical. My question is, did I burn the pedal out? Is there any way to fix this?

You may have just popped one of the capacitors on the power rail.

It's a very easy fix.

Just open it up, look to see if any capacitor that is going around the DC jack looks blown. Such as swollen top or bottom, exploded top, or if it's a disk, split in half.

If you can still read the value on it, then look up the part in Google. If you can't read it, look for the schematic online.

Two simple solder joints, and your done.
