Using a metronome live...

So my band has some samples, synth keys, and other assorted things that we wanna run live but I wanna use a metronome, but I'm hitting a wall. I have cubase and wanna use the metronome in cubase to make sure the metronome matches up with the samples and what not, but I wonder how I can separate the metronome so its not sent to the main house board. (i use a laptop with the stock soundcard sending out to a little behringer mixer to a DI) Am I just stuck with separating them by panning with having audio of the metronome? I feel like there is a better way. O well anyone who can chime in would be helpful.

Hummm. without being able to go AES. you kind of stuck with just a stereo pair out of the Laptop.

So, panning is kind of your only option.

I would suggest panning anyway... live mixes generally shouldn't be stereo because only the people in the middle of the room will hear it right.

use a click track with an LED light. alot of drummers use this. its just flashes off and on and sit somewhere where the drummer can see it. on a cymbal rack or something.

another way, and is what we will have to use shortly too, is get a keys man/console opertater.

this way he can take control of things there if it all goes to **** at anytime.
we will probably use both to make sure all is well.

there are other ways but it involves buying stuff and is more involved. not worth it really.

You can take an 1/8 inch to stereo 1/4 inch cable out of your computer running into two DI's send the one panned with the click back to your monitor mixer, and the one with your tracks out to the board. If that's what you mean.

If you had more out's you could separate the click to another channel. With IEM's you could get it out w/out everyone else hearing it.
