Big Problem

I have a Firepod and using Sonar 8PE, using ASIO drivers. All will sound fine until I go into Sonar and bring up tracks to play. The second I open for instance VC64, or drag an open window to a dual screen I have setup, my Audio completely distorts and continues to do so until I reset my PC. Even after I close Sonar, whatever sound from any application is distorted, until I reset. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Firepod drivers, several times to no avail. This Firepod worked great for me for years, until recently I decided to get Sonar8PE and install it on a new PC, and now kaputs. I even tried my old Sonar6PE instead, and it does the same. What could be the problem here??

Have you installed all the updates for Sonar? I'd also check your video card driver for an update. Finally try turning off X-
ray in Global Options.

If all that fails what buffer size are you running, when at the mixing stage using things like VC64 you should up them to at least 512.

I have not installed the updates for Sonar, but both 6 & 8 do this, I don't think it is a Sonar issue, but just in case would I use the 8.3 update for Sonar 8PE?? The videocard Driver is the latest, haven't tried the X-ray option yet, I will give that a shot when I get home. As far as buffers I have tried 256 and 512.

Ok, major break through... Everything works fine as long as I keep anything and everything off of the screen that is attached to the ATI radeon card. So it definitely has to do with that graphics card. Now to figure out what.

It was a combination of the ATI video card, and also some uncooperative RAM I had installed a few days ago. Today I am returning the RAM and purchasing a PCI Nvidia card and all should be well.
