Cool Edit Pro 2.1 live recording?

I recently bought a copy of Cool Edit Pro off ebay, and I been trying to hear myself record, but i don't know where the settings are for that.. I know Adobe Audition can do that, but I don't have money atm to get that, so I want to know if there is a way on Cool Edit Pro 2.1 to hear myself when I record?

Look up input monitoring. Turning that switch on will send the input signal out to the outputs, so you can hear it.

It can be turned off if you are monitoring before the computer (like directly from a preamp or mixer).

I don't know CEP, so i'm going by guess.

eh, I don't know where to look for input monitoring, I checked the settings, and stuff, but I can't find it.. does Cool Edit 2.1 have input monitoring? adobe audition 3 does
