Connecting a Crossover to an external soundcard

hi there, quite new to recording etc. Currently i am looking at purchasing a basic setup. The setup will consist of a pair of passive wharfedale monitors, a philips 600w power amp (2 channel), a peavey 8 channel mixer which has very limited routing options and also an echo audiofire 2 I/0 external sound-card. I would imagine the main outs of the mixer will be connected to the L/R inputs of the soundcard. What i am wondering is if a crossover can be connected to the stereo outputs of the external soundcard and then into the power amp as i would like to add a sub to the setup at some stage. Would appreciate your thoughts guys, sorry if i don't make sense im still trying to get a grasp on home recording
Thanks

A typical sub will have a built-in crossover. That aside, it's the same as hooking up anything else -- Output goes to input.
