Adobe Audition & Speaker Probs

Hi Everybody:

I'm a newb here and very hopeful some sage can solve my sound problem. I record on Adobe Audition, and cannot hear any of the sound files through my Dell speakers. The speakers do work everyplace else. Speaking to Adobe didn't help because they want my license number which I have totally misplaced. I'm frustrated because I know there is a simple fix. Anybody?

I presume you've sorted out your drivers in the preferences menu, selected your inputs and outputs and that sort of thing? If you haven't, do that.

Also, I'm not familiar with Audition, but there should be a recording monitoring button, or something similar to that around the track somewhere, make sure it's turned on.

And welcome to HRC.

What interface are you using? Fill out your profile and the suggestions will be more specific to you.

There is also a monitoring dropdown at the bottom right, just make sure it's set to external.

Thing is, when using ASIO drivers you can only specify on device for both input/output. If you record on something other than your built in soundcard (which your dell speakers are connected to I assume) then you must also monitor on said device. Once again if I knew your interface I could provide better info but I'm guessing if you plug some phones into it then everything would be heard with no problems.

Other options...

By some powered monitors and plug them into the main outs of your interface.

Run the outs from your interface and get the adapter to convert to 1/8" jack so you can plug into the "line in" on your on board soundcard (once again, that your speakers are plugged into). You can then crank the volume on your interface and control levels with your dell speaker volume controls.
